Turn on Lost Mode
When your pet goes missing, marking them as Lost does two things: it switches the ZoomiTag Health to real-time GPS updates so you can follow them as they move, and it flags them as lost on their public profile, so anyone who scans their tag sees they're being searched for.
Before you start
Marking a pet as lost needs an active ZoomiTag Health subscription and a tag that's powered on and online. If your tag shows as Offline, see Why is my tag offline? first.
You can mark a pet as lost from the Zoomi app on iPhone. Real-time tracking is sent straight to the tag, so keep the app handy as you search.
Mark your pet as lost
- Open the Zoomi app and go to the Track tab.
- Select the pet you're looking for.
- Tap Lost.
- Confirm with Mark as Lost.
The tag switches to real-time updates every 5 seconds for one hour, and the map follows it as fresh locations arrive. Your pet is shown as LOST on their tag profile, so a finder who scans it knows to get in touch.
Update frequency & battery
Real-time updates use much more battery than normal reporting:
| Mode | Update interval | Typical battery |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | Roughly every 10 min | Up to several days |
| Lost (real-time) | Every 5 sec, for 1 hour | A few hours |
Real-time tracking runs for one hour at a time and drains the battery quickly. Mark your pet as found once they're home so the tag returns to normal reporting and is ready next time.
Mark your pet as found
When your pet is safe, open the Track tab, select them, and tap Found, then confirm with Mark as Found. The tag returns to its normal update interval and the LOST flag is removed from their profile.
There's a short cooldown (about 10 minutes) after marking a pet as found before you can mark them lost again.
