Charge and power on your tag
This guide is for the ZoomiTag Health — the GPS tracker with a built-in battery and cellular connection. The basic ZoomiTag is a passive NFC/QR tag with no battery and no power button, so there's nothing to charge or switch on. If you have a basic tag, skip straight to activating it.
Your ZoomiTag Health needs to be powered on before you connect it in the app. This guide covers charging it, switching it on, and what to expect once it's running.
Power on the tag
Before you connect it in the app, switch the tag on:
- Press and hold the silver power button in the top-right corner of the tag for 1–3 seconds.
- Wait until you hear a double beep — that's the tag turning on.
- It then stays on, so there's no need to switch it off again.
Once it's on, go ahead and activate your tag.
Charging
Your Health tag arrives ready to use, but it's worth topping it up first:
- Charge it with the included magnetic cable — a full charge takes around 90 minutes.
- You'll get a low-battery notification at 15%, so you'll always know when it's time to plug in.
- A single charge lasts up to 14 days, depending on how often the tag reports its location.
Charging only affects GPS and the health sensors. Your pet's NFC/QR profile keeps working whatever the battery level, so a finder can always scan the tag.
The first 24 hours
Give your tag around 24 hours to gather enough activity and sleep data before everything appears in the app. Wellness insights are held back until there's enough data to be accurate — so leave the tag on your pet and check back the next day.
Live GPS tracking is the exception — it comes online soon after activation, so you don't need to wait a full day to see your pet on the map.
Battery life
Battery life depends on how often the tag reports its location. The tag adapts its update frequency to balance live tracking with battery life, lasting up to 14 days between charges in normal use. Faster, more frequent updates — for example while Lost Mode is on — use more battery.
