Activity and steps

PawanPawan · Updated 28 June 2026

The ZoomiTag Health is also a pet activity tracker. It watches how active your pet is each day and builds up a picture of their normal baseline, so you can spot changes early and share the data with your vet.

This needs a ZoomiTag Health tag with an active subscription. The basic NFC/QR ZoomiTag doesn't track activity.

What it measures

The tag reports back through the day, and the Zoomi app turns that into three daily activity figures, each shown as a ring you can fill against a goal:

Ring What it tracks
Exercise Active minutes your pet spends moving
Distance How far they've travelled, estimated from GPS
Calories An estimate based on activity and your pet's weight

There's no separate step counter today — activity is measured in active minutes and distance, not steps. Distance and calories are sensible estimates from GPS movement and your pet's profile, so treat them as a guide to the pattern rather than a to-the-metre figure.

Reading the rings

Open the Zoomi app and choose your pet's Health screen to see today's exercise, distance and calories, each as a ring filling toward its goal. Below that you'll find an hourly activity chart showing when your pet was busiest, and you can swipe back through earlier days.

The value isn't just today's number — it's the pattern. Once you know what's normal for your pet, a sudden drop or spike stands out.

Set your pet's goals

The first time you open the Health screen, Zoomi walks you through a short Health plan & goals setup: your pet's weight and activity level, then daily targets for activity, distance, sleep and calories. The rings fill against those goals. You can change them anytime from the Health menu.

Recording a walk

Separately from the all-day tracking, you can tap Start activity to record a walk, run or hike. That session uses your phone's GPS to map the route in real time — handy for a shared walk — and is distinct from the passive all-day figures above.

Give it time to learn

After activation, the first raw data arrives within a few minutes, but the daily activity view fills in as the tag sends updates through the day. Allow around 24 hours for a full day of activity to build up, and longer for trends to settle into a clear baseline. See Sleep tracking and Wellness trends and the daily brief for the rest of the picture.

If activity shows as locked just after subscribing, give it a minute and reopen the app to refresh your account.
