Tag Care

Keep your ZoomiTag performing at its best

ZoomiTag is built tough for active pets, but a little care goes a long way. Follow these tips to get the most from your tag.

Daily care tips

Cleaning

Wipe the tag with a damp cloth to remove dirt, mud, or slobber. For a deeper clean, use mild soap and warm water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive scrubbers that could damage the QR code surface.

Collar fit

Check that the tag sits flat against the collar and does not dangle where it could snag. The split ring or silicone mount should be secure but not overtightened. Recheck the attachment weekly, especially for active dogs.

Avoiding damage

While ZoomiTag is durable, avoid letting your pet chew on it. Remove the tag before rough play sessions or if your pet is an aggressive chewer. The NFC chip and QR code are protected but not indestructible.

Battery and charging

ZoomiTag Lite -- 2-year passive battery

The Lite tag uses a passive NFC chip that draws power from the scanning phone, so there is no battery to charge for the NFC function. The QR code works indefinitely with no power at all. The tag is designed to last years without any maintenance.

ZoomiTag Health -- 14-day rechargeable

The Health tag's GPS and sensors run on a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 14 days on a single charge. Charge using the included magnetic cable. A full charge takes about 90 minutes. You will receive a low battery notification at 15%.

Durability and weather resistance

ZoomiTag is built from impact-resistant polycarbonate with a sealed housing. It is rated for rain, puddles, snow, and brief submersion. Your pet can swim, roll in mud, and explore in any weather without damaging the tag.

The QR code is laser-etched, not printed, so it will not fade or wash off over time. The NFC antenna is fully enclosed within the tag body, protected from moisture and physical impact.

When to replace your tag

ZoomiTags are built to last, but here are signs it may be time for a replacement:

  • The QR code is scratched or worn to the point that phones struggle to scan it
  • The NFC chip no longer responds when tapped
  • The housing is cracked or the seal is visibly broken
  • The split ring hole is worn thin or the attachment point is damaged
  • For Health tags: battery life has dropped significantly below 7 days

If you notice any of these signs, order a replacement and transfer your pet's profile to the new tag in seconds from your dashboard.
